Profile Essay, High School Superhero

I chose to interview one of the admins at my school, who used to be a paraprofessional in my class in elementary school. She is always smiling and excited to help the students while she works. Her passion for her work keeps her involved and she loves helping at the sporting events, which you can almost always find her at.     I interviewed Nancy Theis earlier this week and mostly asked questions about what her job entails. There are a few stories from my time with her that I plan to incorporate into the essay. Based on what I learned about her, I plan on basing the essay around her passion for helping the kids in the schools and her passion for her work.
Anecdotes:
·       (mine) A brand-new school year, walking into a brand-new school year, terrified of the possibilities. Suddenly, I hear my name called, when I look over, I see Nancy Theis. A memory comes to mind or the last time I saw her, fifth grade, and she looks the same with a smile on her face, ready to start the day.
·        (Nancy) She loves helping the kids who come into the activities office, who maybe don’t know what they want to do. Some kids come in and they know athletics aren’t their things, but they want to get involved. Nancy loves to help those kids find something so that they feel involved, and she loves feeling connected to the kids.
Quotations (subject to change):
·        “Making that switch was the best thing I ever did” (project administrator to paraprofessional in PL)
·        “I want to stay connected with the kids and make them feel that they can succeed at no matter what it is that they want to do.”
Title:
·        The High School Superhero
Background information:
·       Six siblings
·       Parents her biggest influence, help her and support her in all of her decisions.
·       Worked as a project administrator in construction before changing her job to work as a paraprofessional in the PL school district.
·       If she went to college, she would have gone to school for aviation, a lot of her family has been pilots and she loves flying
o   Brother in law is an acrobatic pilot, and she loves flying with him, being upside down and seeing the world in a completely different perspective.
I want to show how passionate Nancy is about her work, how much she loves to help the kids (and other people) around her. She loves to help the students and is more than happy to talk to anyone who comes into their office.
